The Peace Tower on the island of Viðey is the brainchild of the artist and peace activist Yoko Ono and is intended as a beacon for world peace.

In 2013, the Reykjavík Art Museum accepted a gift from artist Hallsteinn Sigurdsson to the people of Reykjavík. These were 16 aluminum sculptures, which Hallsteinn placed in the landscape of Gufunes between 1989 and 2012 and stand on a hill to the east of the old fertilizer factory in Gufunes.
