Colour is the subject of all the works in this exhibition, both as a natural phenomenon as well as a cultural one. The artists reflect different ideas, the history of painting, chemistry, symbolism, perception and even house paint.
The exhibition is one of the museum’s contextual drafts for Icelandic art history in the making. Last year the focus was on works where artists reflect material physics and natural processes, this time the theme is colour.
Works on display are all from the RAM Collection and artists are Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir (1980), Birgir Andrésson (1955-2007), Birgir Snæbjörn Birgisson (1966), Erla Þórarinsdóttir (1955), Hildur Bjarnadóttir (1969), Hreinn Friðfinnsson (1943), Ívar Valgarðsson (1954), Kristín Gunnlaugsdóttir (1963), Kristján Guðmundsson (1941), Níels Hafstein (1947), Sólveig Aðalsteinsdóttir (1955), Svava Björnsdóttir (1952) and Þór Vigfússon (1954)..
