In the Reykjavik Art Museum, families with children of all ages are warmly welcomed.
Workshops, courses, and other events are offered for younger guests, advertised specifically under the heading 'Let's Play Art.'
In all museum facilities, there are amenities for children and families, allowing them to unleash their creativity.
Hafnarhús
On the upper floor of Hafnarhús, there is an area for children and families where they will find exciting materials with which to work on ideas and create their own works of art.
Kjarvalsstaðir
At Kjarvalsstaðir there is an area for children and families to tap into their creativity with fun material related to the exhibitions each time.
Ásmundarsafn
In Ásmundarsafn there is a fun secret drawer for families. The secret drawer contains all kinds of paints, books, plasticine and creative materials to work with, using your own free method. In Ásmundasafn, there is also always some hot coffee ready for the adults.
Let's Play Art
With the museum's family programme, children are especially welcome to the museum together with their families to view and experience art through games, creativity and fun discussions.
Fun navigation app!
The Reykjavík Art Museum released the Reykjavík Art Walk app with information about all outdoor art pieces in Reykjavík, which amount to around two hundred.
The app also contains audio guides for walking and cycling tours, a fun game with three difficulty levels and a navigation game around the Hallsteinsgarður - Sculpture Park in Grafarvogur. It is therefore an ideal tool for the whole family to have fun and learn both indoors and outdoors. The app runs both on iPhone and Android operating systems and can be downloaded in Icelandic and English.
Available here for iPhone and here for Android.
