Hafnarhús
-
The visual artist Þórður Ben Sveinsson was one of the original members of the so-called SUM group in Iceland in the 1960´s. At an exhibition in Reykjavík in 1982, he introduced for the first time his vision of a new kind of urban environment and architecture in Iceland, inspired by local conditions, nature and culture. The event aroused great attention at that time.
In the forthcoming exhibition at Hafnarhús, Sveinsson will reveal the latest developments of his urban visions inspired by nature. His aim is to highlight the fundamental and far-reaching impact of city planning on the society at large. By proposing a holistic plan for a part of Reykjavik, he hopes to generate discussions and debates on the future of urban culture and environment in Iceland..
