The exhibition PUT / IN is a part of a series of exhibitions at the Hafnarhus where the interrelationship between the museum and the public space outside its walls is critically reexamined. Hlynur Hallsson choose works from the Reykjavik Art Museum´s collection to be exhibited in different establishments in the city center. He then took in exchange objects to be exhibited in the museum´s A-Gallery. A list of exhibition sights in the center can be found in the exhbition handout. Twenty shops and companies in the centre of Reykjavik participate in the project.

OUT / IN is an investigation of the museum as a venue for art, seeking to highlight the conventions and the experiences of viewers in the traditional space of the museum. The artist moves works of art out of their usual surroundings and bringing in to the museum objects that are not defined as works of individual artists.
