We share our lives within a communal garden of human thought, agreeing on different ideas and systems as the basis of our co-existence. Due to this, that which is humanly constructed often occupies and surrounds us to a great extent and it is easy to lose the connection to our own nature and the natural world around us. Thoughts and ideas can get lost within the parameters of the pre-existing systems.

The nature in Tryggvadóttir‘s Garden has been altered.

It takes on unexpected forms when different materials meet and find their own course within the frame of the exhibition. The transformation-process becomes evident and the works are ever-changing in a process-based durational performance.

Tryggvadóttir (b. 1980) studied fine art at Iceland Academy of the Arts and at Concordia University in Montréal, Canada. Her recent projects include a solo exhibition at Hverfisgallerí (2016), a group exhibition at Hafnarborg (2016) and participation in Disko Arts Festival in Greenland (2017). Tryggvadóttir is the 31st artist to show in the exhibition-series in Gallery D, but the series aims to give promising artists a chance to work within the walls of the museum and call attention to new and interesting voices in the art world..
