Addition is a part of the exhibition Art for the People at Ásmundarsafn.

In the year 1920, Ásmundur Sveinsson (1893-1982) began his studies at the Royal Academy of the Arts in Stockholm under the tutelage of famed Swedish sculptor Carl Milles (1875-1955). Milles was Sveinsson's main teacher for the six years he studied in Sweden. The influence of Milles can be detected in many works by Sveinsson, some of which are on display in this exhibition.

The main theme in Milles' work is movement.

His works evolve around the human form and often depict mythical creatures alongside animals, for instance horses, dolphins and fish. Milles is well known for his fountains and pools where figures are posed with bodies of water or on high plinths so they seem to touch the sky..
