Utilization and Contentment is the title of the exhibition of nine students in the Ceramics Department of the Reykjavik School of Visual Arts.

The concepts of utilization and contentment are becoming more and more important in today’s daily life. The purpose of the exhibition is to draw attention to how important it is to slow down consumerism. The focus of the works reflects, versatility, peace of mind, simplicity, everydayness, consumer orientation, sustainability and user friendly designs.

The exhibition Utilization and Contentment is created under the guidance of plaster master and designer Jens Pfotenhauer. In a three week course with Jens, the students learned various methods of plaster mold making. They made masters, plaster molds and learned the use of porcelain slip. They were introduced to using the wheel and bench to produce plaster molds as well as hand molding methods.

The Ceramics Department of the Reykjavik School of Visual Arts is a two year art and design program where students focus on the ceramics as their means of expression.
