A retrospective of the works of Louisa Matthíasdóttir – Calm – opens at Reykjavík Art Museum – Kjarvalsstaðir, Sunday, 30 April at 16h00. The President of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, will open the exhibition.
Mountain Milk is one of Kjarval’s best known works and it depicts the landscape at Þingvellir where the painter often sought his inspiration. The work shows Flosagjá chasm with Mt. Ármannsfell in the background.
The exhibition God, I Feel So Badwill be held from 3 June–24 September 2017 with numerous works by artist Ragnar Kjartansson on show in Reykjavík Art Museum – Hafnarhús.
The Imagine Peace Tower in Viðey island will be illuminated Monday, 20 March, the day Yoko Ono and John Lennon got married in 1969. Their wedding was followed by a week-long honeymoon where Lennon and Ono staged a “Bed-In” for peace at the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel.
