Adventurous Art Workshops for Children in Viðey Island this summer

Reykjavík Art Museum and the U.S. Embassy will offer Education through Adventurous Art Workshops on Viðey Island this summer for children ages 8-13 in connection with the exhibit Áfangar on the works of Richard Serra in Reykjavík Art Museum´s Hafnarhús.
The artists and mountain guides Margrét H. Blöndal and Ósk Vilhjálmsdóttir will direct the workshops. There will be four workshops in total and will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.13-17 July, 20-24 July, 27-31 July and 10-14 August. Registration on info@halendisferdir.is. The workshops will be a week long each with an emphasis on the relationship between art and the environment, whether if it is nature or man-made. Participants will get a chance to enjoy Iceland´s nature, draw, paint, shape and document their thought and connect with other artist that use similar methods and processes. They will visit the Richard Serra exhibition, Áfangar at the Hafnarhús and view his art Áfangar on Viðey Island.
