After the guided tour, you will have a look into the museum's art storage, where you will find many of Errós's works, which he gave to the city of Reykjavík.
In 1989, the City of Reykjavík took over a large collection of around 2,000 works by the artist, as well as documents and other documents that are of great value for research concerning the artist and his contemporaries. The museum has grown steadily over the last few years and now has around 4000 works of art. A place was found for Errósafn in Hafnarhús, and the gift was the basis for Reykjavík Art Museum to start operating in the building. Exhibitions from Errós's collection have a permanent place there, but with them we try to give an insight into different emphases in his works.
