Lecture about Anni Albers: Nicholas Fox Weber
Nicholas Fox Weber, Executive Director of the Josef & Anni Albers Foundation, presents the lecture Anni Albers: A Glorious Pioneer in connection with the exhibition Textile art by Júlíana Sveinsdóttir and Anni Albers.
The exhibition showcases textiles by Icelandic artist Júlíana Sveinsdóttir (1889-1966) are shown here alongside the works of the German Bauhaus weaver/artist Anni Albers (1899–1994) who was one of the most influential weavers of the twentieth century.
The lecture starts at 3 p.m. and takes place in English. Free with admission.
Nicholas Fox Weber is a cultural historian and has written extensively about both Josef and Anni Albers and curated many major exhibitions and retrospectives dedicated to their work. He is a graduate of Columbia College and Yale University and author of fourteen books including Patron Saints, The Art of Babar, The Drawings of Josef Albers, The Clarks of Cooperstown, Balthus, Le Corbusier: A Life, and The Bauhaus Group.
