20h00 – Curator Talk
Markús Þór Andrésson will have a Curator Talk about the exhibition Down Иorth: The North Atlantic Triannial .
Down Иorth is an art exhibition made in collaboration between three art museums, the Portland Museum of Art in the state of Maine in the USA, Bildmuseet in Umeå in Sweden and Reykjavík Art Museum in Iceland. There, 30 artists show new works that deal with the changes that are taking place in society, nature and the ecosystem in the Arctic at the beginning of the 21st century and are largely due to climate change.
20h00 – Performance
A performance by the artist duo Gideonsson/Londré in the exhibition Down Иorth.
Arch is a movement from Portland to Reykjavik towards Umeå. A performance based on a collective exchange between groups of people sharing traces of events that have shaped their bodies. The experiences of the Icelandic group are performed in relation to the sculptures in the exhibition, using them as tools to form a new kind of body shaped by a collective past. Performed by Axel Diego, Eyrún Ævarsdóttir and Harpa Lind Ingadóttir.
