Culture Night: Free guided tours
Staff from our educational department will be available at Hafnarhús between 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. and tell guests about the three exhibitions now on view at Hafnarhús. KINGDOM - flora, fauna, fable, The Making of Erró 1955-1964 and This is Our First and Last Work by Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir. Ingibjörg will open her exhibition at 5 p.m. in Gallery D that same day.
KINGDOM - flora, fauna, fable gives the viewer insight into the art of dissimilar artists through their work from recent years and decades, as well as older works from the archives of Reykjavík Art Museum. Curator: Markús Þór Andrésson.
The exhibition The Making of Erró 1955-1964 explores the development of the artist which is a complex and spectacular period in his art and in European art history, when he was the first artist to create "collage paintings". Curator: Danielle Kvaran.
This is Our First and Last Work, by Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir will open in Gallery D on Culture Night. Exhibitions in Gallery D focus primarily on artists who have not previously held one-person shows in Iceland’s major galleries. Ingibjörg molds the poetic and the abstract into sculptures in her search for truth and beauty. Curator: Bryndís Erla Hjálmarsdóttir.
