Changing Exhibitions

We are sorry for the inconvenience but we are currently changing exhibitions in Ásmundarsafn and  welcome guests to the opening of Mentor: Ásmundur Sveinsson and Carl Milles in Ásmundarsafn on Saturday 20 May at 14h00. We also celebrate the 40th anniversary of the museum Ásmundarsafn on Ásmundur‘s 130th birthday on 20 May. The exhibition features the works of the Icelandic sculptor Ásmund Sveinsson (1893-1982) and the Swedish  sculptor Carl Milles (1875-1955). Ásmundur studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts under Milles' guidance from 1920-1926.  Carl Milles is one of Sweden's most respected sculptors and, like Ásmundur, he donated his house, studio and work to the public after his death. 

During the exhibition change guests are welcome to enjoy the Sculpture Garden around the museum building and visit our museum shop inside. We offer warm coffee and water.
